How Do You Not Cut Through Thr Paper During Washi Art

If you like crafting and oasis't been to a Dollar Tree store lately, you should stop in. The store caught on to the fact that crafters were shopping there for low-cost arts and crafts supplies, and they take really upped their game. You tin find cheap canvases, craft pigment, glue, rhinestones, and raw wood blanks in the craft aisle. During my concluding visit, I found some other new and heady craft supply: vinyl! I bought three kinds of their in-house vinyl to answer the question: "Does Dollar Tree vinyl work?"

DOES DOLLAR TREE VINYL Work?

DOLLAR Shop ADHESIVE VINYL

I have three local Dollar Tree stores, and each one of them had a dissimilar selection of their Crafter's Square vinyl. I saw a range of solid color vinyl too as 4 colors of metallic, glitter vinyl. On the Dollar Tree website, they also offer patterned vinyl, but I have not seen that in-store yet. I picked upward black standard vinyl, black glitter vinyl, and silvery glitter vinyl, and put them all to the examination.

The Crafter'southward Foursquare vinyl comes in packages that contain a single 12″ x 48″ curl of vinyl for just $one. That is almost a ninety% savings off of permanent vinyl at the arts and crafts shop. The glitter vinyl saves you even more money. This is what the Dollar Tree website says well-nigh the Crafter's Square vinyl:

Whether you utilize a vinyl cut car or cutting them past mitt, these rolls of Crafter'southward Foursquare® Permanent Vinyl Newspaper are perfect for making decals and stickers! Each 12×48-in. roll comes assorted among green, black, yellowish, and white. Platonic for creating laptop, car, or water bottle decals and adding to walls in your bedroom, bathroom, playroom, or classroom!

CUTTING DOLLAR TREE VINYL

I tested all 3 varieties of dollar shop vinyl using my Explore 3 and a StandardGrip mat (the light-green i). I selected Glitter Vinyl from the materials list when cutting the silvery and blackness glitter vinyl, and I selected Permanent Vinyl from the list for the standard black vinyl.

I had no trouble cutting either the standard black vinyl or the silver glitter vinyl. They cut well and were removed easily from the cutting mat. The black glitter was another story. The black glitter vinyl did not cut well (as you will see later) and the backing newspaper stuck to my mat in spots causing information technology to rip.

WEEDING VINYL FROM THE DOLLAR Shop

I actually wanted to exam out the standard vinyl, so I chose a moderately intricate blueprint using my Admission account. The vinyl cut very well, and it weeded like a dream! I was very surprised at how easily I was able to remove the excess vinyl around my design.

I chose a much simpler design for the silver glitter vinyl, but the blueprint however cut quite well and weeded adequately easily. As with all glitter vinyl, it was a little difficult to see the cuts in the vinyl, merely once I got a corner peeled upwards the residue of the excess vinyl came upward with no problems.

The blackness glitter vinyl was a dud. In that location was a difference in the texture of this vinyl when compared to the argent. This vinyl felt much more similar paper than vinyl. While information technology did not get hung upward in the machine at all, it did non cut peculiarly well either. I tried both the intricate Halloween blueprint and the elementary jack-o-lantern design, and I was non able to weed either one. Whenever I tried to pull upwards the backlog vinyl, it ripped, usually ripping the cutting design equally well. I tried several times but eventually gave up on this vinyl.

APPLYING DOLLAR TREE VINYL

After I weeded the standard black and the argent glitter vinyl designs, I applied Cricut Transfer Tape to each of them. The argent glitter vinyl needed quite a scrap of coaxing to adhere to the transfer record. I think the texture of the glitter made it not want to stick very well. The standard black vinyl grabbed onto the transfer tape very well.

I applied the black dollar store vinyl to a dollar store wood sign that I painted with craft pigment. Since the vinyl stuck to the transfer record and so well, I had a few problems peeling the tape abroad and leaving the vinyl adhered to the sign. I have had similar issues transferring other brands of vinyl though, so I wouldn't say that this is a deal breaker.

The silver glitter transferred onto this sign beautifully. I was worried that the texture of the Glitterific paint would prevent the glitter vinyl from sticking well, only I had no issues at all. The vinyl seems to have adhered well to the surface of the painted sign. I even checked around the edges with my fingernail, and it is staying put!

SO, IS DOLLAR Store VINYL WORTH BUYING?

I was pretty impressed with the standard black and silvery glitter vinyl. They both cut well, weeded easily, and applied evenly. You get a skillful corporeality of vinyl for Way less than y'all would pay for other brands at the craft store. On the other hand, I would not repurchase the black glitter vinyl. I think it is fine if you programme to cut it with pair of scissors, but information technology did not work well with my Cricut car.

I programme to practice a scrap more than testing of the Dollar Tree vinyl on other surfaces, like drinking glass or paper, and trying to layer the vinyl as well. What questions practise y'all have about dollar store vinyl?
